from the time i was 17, i went to therapy every week. i stopped when i was 19, but decided to go again in may of this year. everytime you tell someone you went to therapy, they assume you're all fucked up in the head, but you're really just all fucked up inside.

reasons why i went to therapy
A) i watched my oldest and favorite brother die
b) to deal with all those angry emotions that caused me
to get into a fight a week in High school
C) to "cure" my fear of clowns
okay, to clear that up. when i was 6 years old, my brothers tied me down and forced me to watch the whole movie "IT". i was traumatized, and until i was 16 lol. when i went to therapy, i kinda eased out of it. but i still hate clowns. they make me nervous.

i used to have a problem admitting that i go to therapy, but now it's whatever. we're all grown up in here. i'd rather be in a controlled environment than to be home, depressed and capable of doing shit you'd hear about on the 5 o'clock news.

the man thinks.

idunno what it is and why it aint like everybody else for me but i dont think going to thereapy makes you crazy or weak or whatever people like to say.

at least if you go to therapy you aren't denying that you need some help with anything be it a tragic loss or even a traumatizing event... by the way, im sorry for your loss...

the "Crazy" thing is MOST of the people who cause a big commotion over Therapy are DESPERATE NEED of it themselves!!! So many people fail to admit/acknowledge They NEED help!! So many people are walking around right now, with bottled emotions they should've let go Years ago & probably could have had they gone to therapy themselves!!! And I put it like this, Why WASTE time blabbing to some uneducated gossiper or "friend" when they can't help you anyway??? I applaud you for being a black man going to Therapy! (wait i assumed you're black. mad bad?!! lol) anyhoo, Black People always put up a fuss about Therapy, but white folks will go with no problem! (maybe that's a part of the problem...most people who go are assumed to be white and psychotic??)

Bottom Line, I just graduated with my Bachelors in Psychology, looking forward to Grad school & of course I believe in Therapy!! When they told me i was required to go for a semester as a part of my major/graduation requiremnets...i was excited to see what it was all about & i loved it!! it's just "Talking" ike so what, what's the big deal!!

@Shandra yup, half jamaican lol but yea i'm currently majoring in Sociology and have figured that the mental health system is looked at as a negative but there are so many different people with so many situations, that there needs to be an outlet somewhere..u get me?

i think it's the fact that when you say therapy, someone thinks that because you're coping with a traumatic event in the past, you're mentally unstable. this sometimes causes people to be afraid of you, to inquire, or completely shun you for being different. but you've coped TT! these bloggers don't know you, but i can say you've come a LONG, LONG way since back then. therapy works :)
